That’s a great question. On any shop.newpi.coop page there is a welcome message in the upper left corner above the Co-op Cart logo. Where it says “Welcome to the Co-op! You can sign in or create an account.” Click “create an account”.
You will be brought to a page where you will need to fill out some basic information and create a password.
Under store selection, choose the store you would like to pick up from or, for delivery, the store you would like groceries from. You can change this at any time.
If you are a member and have your card handy, enter your 12 digit card number located on the back under the barcode.
If you do not have your card available, just give us a call at 855-NEWPI71 and we’ll look it up for you.
If you know your shortened member number, you can leave this field blank and add it in the notes of your shopping order later on and our personal shoppers will update your member number for you as they pick your order.
Once you finish filling out your information (remember to jot down your password), click the green “Create Account” button.
And that’s it! You can review your information and make adjustments at any time under “My Account” listed in the upper right side of your screen.
Shop by Search
If you have a shopping list, use the Search Bar in the header to search for each item. You can type in “apple” and view all items that are apples or apple products.
You can also search by brand. If you want a specific brand of milk you can type in something like “Hansens Milk” or Hansens Whole Milk” for a more focused search.
If you search for a specific item and no items are available, try simplifying your search term to see if it populates.
Once you find an item you’d like to buy click the Add to List button or click on the product image for more information.
If you find an Item you like, but don’t want to buy at this time, you can click on the heart in the upper right corner of a product listing to add it to your favorites.
Shop by Sale Items
You can view these items by simply clicking on the Green Co-op Deals square on the Homepage or on any product page (for instance shop.newpi.coop/shop). Just select the “On Sale” option in the left hand side bar just above “All Categories”. All items with a dark green button are on sale.
Shop by Favorites
Want to save time shopping for the items you frequently buy or consider? Customize your shopping experience by selecting the “favorites” heart in the upper right hand corner of the products you like. You can then view these at any time by clicking the My Favorites link in the top right corner of the header or on the left hand side bar just above “All Categories”
Shop Using Shelf Tags
Looking only for items that fit a specific dietary need? Shop with our “Shelf Tags”, located at the bottom of the left hand side bar on all shop pages. You can filter by Organic, Gluten Free, Vegan, Vegetarian, Local, Raw, and Low Sodium among the 20+ options. This will filter only items that meet this attribute and allow you to use the search bar while filtering.
Shop by Category
If you’re new to the Co-op or you’d just rather browse, you can view items by category as well. These categories are defaulted to our most popular items, so you can get an idea by browsing, what people like best from us (or at least buy the most frequently). No mistake, our vegan chocolate chip cookies from our bakery are a customer favorite!
If you’d like to narrow your search within a department, you can use the second search bar just under the department name (ie. Produce) to find items just within the department. This is helpful when your searching for an apple but don’t want all apple products that the Co-op sells.
If you’re not yet a member of New Pioneer’s Co-op Cart, begin by creating a free account.
After creating your account, begin shopping Co-op Cart by clicking the Shop button on the menu bar above.
Once you’re shopping, you can filter for EBT SNAP Eligible products using the Shelf Tags checklist located on the left side of the page. Once selected, only EBT items will display until you deselect the EBT SNAP Eligible checkbox, click the Shop button, or leave Co-op Cart.
After making your selections, click the button with the shopping cart icon in the upper left corner to complete your purchase.
Enter your contact information and the time you’d like to receive your order. You can also, use the “Switch to Delivery” button for delivery – however, deliveries are not covered by SNAP.
Use the Continue button to review your order and enter your payment. After reviewing your order information, select EBT SNAP under Payment Method and enter your card number. Once you’ve entered your number, you’ll need to enter your PIN twice, once to verify your amount and again to confirm your purchase. You may also need to enter credit/debit card information if a portion of your order is not covered by SNAP.
Once completed, click the Place Order button to finish your order.

Once you’ve selected all the groceries you’d like to order, click on the dark green cart button in the bright green bar at the top. You can view your list at this time by clicking on “View Full List”.
Here you can make adjustments to your orders. You can choose substitutions for any items or choose “No Substitutions” on items.
You can add notes to any individual products by clicking on “Add Notes” just below each item.
You can view your Estimated Total in the sidebar off to the right and when you are ready to place your order click the Dark Green “Checkout” button just below your total.
On the Checkout Page fill in the Pick Up form fields – using a phone number our shoppers can contact you with, with any order questions. Choose the day you’d like to pick up your order and an available pick up time.
If you’d like to add notes for pick up, your member number (if it’s not yet tied to your account) or on your order in general, you can include this information in the Instructions field at this time.
Click the Dark Green “Begin Checkout” button at the bottom of the page.
You’ll have one last opportunity to make any adjustments to your order.
Scroll to the bottom of the page to add your credit card or EBT information. If you’re using EBT, you’ll need to enter your PIN twice, once to verify your balance and another time to submit your payment.
If you have a promotional code, you may add it at this time, just above the Payment Method Area.
To place your order, click the dark green “Place Order” button at the bottom right of the page. Once you do this your order will be placed and sent to our shoppers.
On the Confirmation Page you will receive your order number and instructions on how to pick up your order.
Once your order is placed you’ll receive an order number on the confirmation page. Keep this for pick up.
You can drive up to the store at any time within your designated time slot and call (855) 639-7471 to prompt a personal shopper for your order.
If you’d prefer, you can pop your trunk open and we’ll place them inside.
Where to Park
Cedar Rapids – drive up the “hill” next to the large Co-op sign and park next to the side door, near the bike rack.
Coralville – drive up to the store entrance and look for the “Co-op Cart Pick Up” signs off to the left (near the bicycle rack)
Iowa City – enter the side lot past the parking spots along Ralston Creek. There is a “Co-op Cart Pick Up” sign.
Sometimes an item becomes sold out before our personal shopper collects your order. In this case you have several options.
Before you place the order, you can choose a substitution option for each item like “best comparable” where our shoppers will look to find a similar product of comparable quality and price. You can also choose “Same Brand (Different Size)”, “Same Size (Different Brand)”, Same Price”, or “No Substitution”. If you choose no substitution our shoppers will move past the item that is not available. If they can find a substitution, they will often call or text to confirm the replacement.
You can also leave notes for any individual item (when you view your item list before checkout) if you would like to provide more information.
Customize your shopping experience by selecting the “favorites” heart in the upper right hand corner of the products you like. You can then view these at any time by clicking the My Favorites link in the top right corner of the header or on the left hand side bar just above “All Categories”
This will save you time in the future instead of searching by category or search bar.
Create Shopping Lists
You can create a variety of shopping lists under your account. Just click on “My Account” in the top right hand corner of the site. Under “My Account” navigate to “My Shopping Lists” in the left sidebar and click on the dark green “New List” button.
Two lists that are often helpful are a Weekly Staples List and a Monthly Staples List. You can add any items (quantities and substitutions) that you buy on a regular basis so you can just click “reorder” instead of reselecting these items every time.
You can make adjustments to your list once you click reorder, but this adds all of your items from a selected shopping list into your checkout.
Adding Items to a List
In My Account, under My Shopping Lists create a “New List” or select the dropdown arrow next to Modified Date and choose “Make Active” for the list you’d like to update. A green heart will appear next to the active list. Next, go to “shop” in the green navigation bar and start adding your items.
You can view your list of items any time by clicking the dark green cart button in the green navigation bar.
To switch lists, go back to My Account > My Shopping Lists and choose “Activate List” from the dropdown arrow next to the list you’d like to switch to.
