Blackberry, currant and black plum dominate the palate, supported by mocha and vanilla crème. Aged for 18 months in French and American oak barrels - 79% new – this Petit Verdot shows great concentration and texture, spicy richness, and tannins that are long, soft and round. The wine has a long, powerful finish and the structure to age beautifully for a decade at least. Our Stefano Vineyard in the prestigious El Pomar District AVA of Paso Robles dominates this wine at 66%. This site comprises steep hillsides with unusual soils filled with multicolored rocks of all shapes and sizes. Warm daytime temperatures are punctuated by cool afternoon breezes coming off the Pacific Ocean and through the Templeton Gap. 2018 was a seminal vintage in Paso Robles, with a long, steady growing season that contributed to both ripeness and freshness in the wines. This Petit Verdot, harvested in late October, showcases the textbook power and fruit intensity of the region combined with precision and elegance.
